A remarkably versatile artist/composer, Moira uses her exquisite voice and deft mastery of the harp, piano and guitar to create a beautiful and unforgettable mood. Classical training, a flair for composition and arrangement and an affection for many diverse musical genres have led to the development of her innovative and imaginative style which ranges from haunting original compositions to dramatic instrumentals and a cappella ballads. Moira is equally at ease performing as a soloist, or accompanied by award winning cellist and vocalist, Elena Jubinville. "After the Fall", Moira's second CD, was recently re-released and has received excellent responses from fans and reviewers alike. Elena Jubinville joins Moira on the album along with Kathryn Moses (flute) and Rick Lazar (percussion). Moira's music is gaining international recognition and one of her compositions was selected to appear on a compilation released in Italy. Both of her CD's have received worldwide airplay.
'Echoes of Another Time', brings to mind folk music from a classical perspective, as it might have been performed in Victorian times, a kind of Celtic Victoriana. Featuring Moira Nelson (harp, voice, piano, guitar) and Elena Jubinville (cello, voice, guitar, flutes), the CD includes some of the talented duo's most requested Celtic and Traditional favourites from the British Isles and Canada and also introduces Moira's latest original harp solo, "Through the Looking Glass". We invite you to close your eyes, listen and journey wherever the echoes may lead.
Currently Moira is exploring the world of music, working on a new project with collaborator Elena Jubinville. The two are busily working in the studio creating a new sound.
Jennifer Pratt-Walter of the Folk Harp Journal writes: "Moira's music can't be categorized into a particular style or genre. She demonstrates prowess and depth as both musician and poet." CITY-TV's Anne Rohmer finds Moira's music "very beautiful" while fan Linda Fletcher calls it: "The most beautiful music I have ever heard in my lifetime."
