biographical info
Vancouvers' MWB is an all-originals group with a distinct African slant to their trippy pop/rock sounds. On the scene 6 years and compared to Peter Gabriel, or Paul Simons' "Graceland" album.
MWB is an effortless blurring of musical categories into a distinct, new, high-energy live and listening experience. In April, 2003 both "Here's Looking at You" and "Too Late" from their CD Aluminum Sea, won Runner's Up in the annual NSAI-CMT international song contest (7,000 entrants). The CD was also nominated for 2 West Coast Music Awards (Song and Producer of the Year).
MWB’s high-energy show is seen at many university campuses, Western Canadian nightclubs, destination ski resorts, and regional festivals.
This year, MWB won the $5,000 first prize “Battle at the Barn”, competing live with 10 great local bands. MWB’s live Shaw TV performance was selected as part of a "Best Of" 2002-3 season rebroadcast series. MWB has also begun recording their follow-up album (release date summer 2004).
