biographical info
Mars Hill formed in April 2003 in Charlottetown, PEI. The band consists of the following
members ; Devin Casario (Vocals), Chloe Cork (Trumpet/Keyboards/Vocals), Dean Dunsford
(Bass) and David Weale (Drums). The music the Mars Hill creates is genre-defying containing
elements of reggae, folk, rock, jazz and hip-hop. Ethereal keys, thick bass lines, jazzy drums and
climactic trumpet give the band a psychedelic 1967 Venice, California feel while the vocals of
Devin Casario drag the band’s sound through Kerouac’s New York and Harrison’s Rishikesh.
The band entered the stage with a balanced approach to songwriting and performance and since
forming in the Spring of 2003 have played hundreds of shows.
Mars Hill has been fortunate tp play alongside established veteran groups such as
Slowcoaster, Metric, Buck65 and The Jimmy Swift Band early in their career. Their debut
full-length album “Oxcart”- engineered and produced by Darren Gallop of Slowcoaster and East
Cape Productions was released on October 1 2004 and subsequently received an ECMA
nomination for Alternative Recording of the year. Their follow-up album, “Fate Chance Luck
Dance” will be released in April 2006.
