biographical info
Markus spent his first few years in Toronto playing rhythm guitar and keyboard for Royal Wood (check out: www.royalwood.ca) across town.
However, in 2003 he entered the studio to record his first solo album Room Enough For Two and emerged as a singer songwriter in his own right.
For the album he enlisted Royal Wood as a producer and some of Toronto’s brightest musicians such as Sarah McKelchren ( Sarah Slean, Hawksley Workman), Adam Hay (Sarah Slean, Martina Sorbara), Maury Lafoy (Supers, Sarah Harmer) It was released in the summer of 2003.
3 songs from that debut album found their way into feature films. His song “Rome for a Day” was in the film Fever Pitch starring Drew Barrymore and directed by the Farrelly Brothers. As well, his song “Moonlight” was in the feature film The End of Silence starring Sarah Harmer, directed by Anita Dorin and produced by Acadamy Award nominated producer Erin Young. The film boasts an impressive soundtrack with acts like: Audio Sleep, Great Lake Swimmers, Gentleman Reg, Kate Fenner, Royal Wood, etc…
2006 saw the release of his new studio album My Kingdom Blue. Royal Wood came back to produce and Steve Pitkin (Elliott Brood) was the engineer. Other special guests include Michelle Rasky and Adam Hay.
