biographical info
Lunice is a multi-art enthusiast from Montreal, Qc. He started
composing and experimenting with music in the month of December of 2006. He
then felt determined to go in full-effect in the beginning of ‘07 releasing his
first free downloadable MP3 instrumental album entitled “Kibbles N’ Beats”.
From all the positive feedback received for the album and the back to back
plays on Java Joel’s 94.7 Hits FM radio show with the track “Composition”
featuring the talented emcee of Austin Texas Cerebral Vortex. Lunice then
proceeded in making his second instrumental album entitled “Bossa Rendez-Vous”
in which contains soothing Bossa-Nova instrumental sounds with a rhythmical Hip-Hop
and percussions element mixed into it creating a unifying sound of rhythm and
relaxation.
Montreal’s club music scene hasn’t proved itself to be as appealing to Lunice for
he had a hunger for a different sound he would enjoy making and that everyone
would enjoy to dance to it as well, until a fortunate occurrence happened on
Myspace bringing Lunice up to where he is today:
“As Lunice says, MySpace helps make
those connections. “I was experimenting with a lot of different kinds of beats.
I found Hudson Mohawke, I was like, wow, that’s insane. I check out his top
friends, I see Rustie, I check Rustie and I find out that everybody is from
frickin’ Scotland. And then Rustie put me on his top friends. Then Hovatron
finds me and is, like, we’re from Montreal. So it went from MySpace to Glasgow,
Scotland to, ‘What the fuck kind of beat are they doing, that’s insane!’ to
seeing that we go to the same school to asking me if I could play with them at
one of their shows.’” – Erin Macleod, The Montreal Mirror.
From the massive and coincidental connections on Myspace bringing Lunice to
where he is today, he has finally found that specific “sound” that he enjoys
making and that shifts his view on Montreal’s club scene. From that day on,
Lunice pursues his passion while being extremely grateful to meet and be able
to play with the most down to earth, coolest and funniest people he has ever
met (Megasoid, Blingmod and Mofomatronix) at the new monthly called TURBO CRUNK
at Coda Club. Having this opportunity will open the doors to many possibilities
in Lunice’s future endeavors.
