biographical info
Skirting the laws of love and self-indulgence, Luke slips over the border into balladeer country; a seat belt holding up his pants, leaving Bonnie back at the ranch (all she ever did was whine). Aloha, Manitoba ditches the gang and discovers brethren. The lean rock machine of Veal returns on horseback with Bazil Donovan on bass and Barry Mirochnick on drums, subtle reinforcements while Luke stakes his claim. There are no distortion pedals in the open country: only bottles and necks, stretchy distances and strings. There is no echo out on the plains of Manitoba, no reverb, no effects, no distractions. If we must refer to this prison bust as Luke's solo debut, let's bear in mind that Luke has always been a cowboy, and that true cowboys ride alone. So stuff your pipe and saddle up. We're going to Aloha, Manitoba.
