From Montreal to San Francisco, leather ties and slicked back hair, two cool DJs spin the best in smooth pop rock. In July 2006, surrounded by voluptuous gogo dancers, they compete with some of the biggest retro DJs around at New York's popular "Le One Night Stand." Their objective clear; compel you to party, without restraint, to kitsch French yéyé hits.

When they're not behind the turntables, Les Handclaps are equipped with a guitar, a Farfisa, and a laptop, to offer up a varied and festive repertoire. Holding fast to their strong 50's and 60's influences, they explore pop melodies and contemporary rhythms, reinvigorating this music by giving it the electronic treatment.

October 2006: Daniel and Hugo meet Lorraine Muller, who is immediately charmed by the electro-pop-yéyé project. Having been in legendary ska band The Kingpins and having just returned from a tour in China with her most recent project Lo and the Magnetics, this MiMi award winning "Best Live Performer" in the underground scene adds her voice and her creative energy to Les Handclaps. The trio pretentiously conquers the stage forcing you to dance, to clap your hands, to sway your hips, to do the twist, to shake your head, to scream, not to give a damn, all to the soundtrack of their vocal pastiches.
