Best Roots & Traditional Album, 2011 JUNO AWARDS ( La Part du Feu)
Best Roots & Traditional Album, 2004 JUNO AWARDS ( Maudite Moisson)

Deep history and playful innovation. Quebec’s Le Vent du Nord knows how to turn the lost past into intensely listenable performances that push their roots in striking global directions. The group is blazing a path that connects Quebecois roots to the wider world, in both arrangements and on stage. Since its 2002 founding, the quartet has given more than 1000 concerts, racking up several prestigious awards, including two Junos, a Canadian Folk Music Award, and Artist of the Year at the North American Folk Alliance Annual Gala.

Le Vent du Nord have become compelling Francophone ambassadors, winning critical acclaim and audience adoration across Europe and North America. The quartet delivers catchy songs and tunes taken from or inspired by the Quebec traditional folk repertoire while others are original compositions. The group has a rich and varied instrumentation, well-polished musical arrangements, and wonderful vocals.

In addition to their traditional repertoire, the group has exhibited great finesse and flexibility, participating in a striking variety of special musical projects. They’ve collaborated and performed with The Chieftains, with Quebecois roots legend and master storyteller Michel Faubert, with hip Scottish folk band Breabach, and with the trans-Mediterranean Ensemble Constantinople and more recently with the wonderful swedish trio VASEN.

Le Vent du Nord’s unexpected orchestral rendering of its repertoire, "Le Vent du Nord
Symphonique," has been presented as part of two different concerts series with the Portland Symphony Orchestra and Québec Symphony Orchestra and garnered rave reviews.

Le Vent du Nord will soon be back with their seventh album Tromper le temps available in Canadian stores and online from April 24 (Québec) and May 8 (all Canada & US)

Tromper le temps [“Cheating Time”] is as much a statement as an observation. Here we
find four thirty-something musicians exploring and playing with music of
yesterday, today, and possible tomorrows.
