biographical info
Laine Henderson is ready and poised to make her mark on the Canadian music scene. Born and raised on the North Shore Mountains, her voice is as strong and beautiful. Her wide range and flexibility of style enables her to flow seamlessly from delicate highs to soulful lows all the while carrying clarity of tone that is hard to match.
Studying music from a young age Laine was always performing, but it wasn’t until she moved to Boston, Massachussettes to study at Berklee College of Music that she discovered her penchant songwriting. Having Joni Mitchell as her first inspiration for writing, Laine’s songs are full of poetic, clever lyrics that are brought to life through jazz inspired harmonies, addictive melodies and foot tapping grooves.
Honing her craft as I writer and performer, Laine spent her post-graduate years in New York City. She regularly appeared at The BitterEnd, CB’s Gallery, the Living Room and Arlene’s Grocery. Then she moved on to Dublin, Ireland, the songwriting center of the world at the time. She quickly found herself opening for well-known Irish names such as Luka Bloom, The 4 of Us, Declan O’Rourke and Damien Rice. Laine also took advantage of the opportunity to tour with the still famous Irish Dance Show, Riverdance, where she shared the stage with Celtic Women’s, Lisa Kelly.
Laine has now returned home to Canada and has finished her latest album. Unlike her first album, which is introspective and personal, Occasional Rain is bright, quirky and feel-good. She performs regularly around the Lower Mainland and is eager for the world to hear her new CD.
