LOUD is a Vancouver instrumental trio formed in 1996,
composed of electric guitarist Elaine Stef, and taiko (Japanese
drum) players Eileen Kage and Leslie Komori. Kage and
Komori are well known composers and performers from the
Asian Canadian performing arts scene (Uzume Taiko, Kokoro
Dance, Katari Taiko, Sawagi Taiko). Stef is a veteran of
Canada's alternative music scene (Lillian Allen Band, Rhythm
Activism, Moral Lepers, Animal Slaves), and has composed
and performed on Juno and Genie award winning productions.
LOUD's acclaimed debut "taikoelectric", was co-produced and
engineered by Greg Reely (Sarah McLachlan, 54-40, Spirit of the
West), and was released in March of 2000.
LOUD's live performances have gained them an enthusiastic
and growing audience. They have performed in Canada, the US
and abroad, as well as collaborating with film and video artists,
and for dance and multimedia productions.
