biographical info
Laugh Out Loud is the solo project of Eric Reid, and presents itself as a loud intense mix which combines alt pop, punk rock, and acoustic folk music. He is an accomplished multi-instrumentalist singing all his own vocal tracks and playing drums, guitar, piano, various percussion, as well as being a MIDI hacker and recording artist.
At the age of 19, his song-writing is already impressive and mature. His lyrical themes critique the dysfunctional modern family and the dissociation of urban youth, all bathed in scathing black humour.
He began his rock career in 2001 with his participation as a drummer in the indie punk band, The Septics. Over the ensuing years, this tight band would accumulate a large local fan base and win two local battle-of-the-bands. The activities of the band culminated in a professional EP recording in June of 2005.
Eric Reid took a dramatic turn to advanced musical self-discovery in leaving the Septics and recording his own musical compositions, under the moniker Laugh Out Loud, in August of 2005. The recording of his own songs continued until July of 2006.
He is currently assembling a new band for the Laugh Out Loud project and preparing for the touring of his recently completed self-titled debut album. Reid is currently in Stephenville, Newfoundland studying at the music department at CONA, brushing up his technical and musical business chops.
