Lyric Born’s Lies. The Canadian trio bring
energy, enthusiasm and passion to every performance, making their show a must
see act.
Like nothing you have ever heard or seen before, Keys
N Krates reinterpret and breathe new life into music by combining live
instrumentation, turntables and sampling to remix existing pop music and
samples from artists including MGMT to Jay Z. With DJ Jr Flo on turntables,
Matisse on keys and Adam Tune on drums, what really makes the Toronto trio
stand out is their ability to mix a distinct electronic sound, with the concept of a
live performance. Since forming in 2008, the trio have been mashing up music to
new heights, and mesmerizing fans with their brilliant live performances.
In 2009, Keys N Krates stepped out of the studio and
into the spotlight. They were featured in URB Magazine’s Next 100 artists to
watch and released their debut mix tape, Live
Remixing 101. The mix was an instant success, gaining industry and fan
support across the country. Shortly after the release, the trio found
themselves living the dream, touring with some of hip hop’s and electronics’
brightest stars, including N.E.R.D, Kid Cudi, Steve Aoki, Questlove
and Timbaland.
In 2010, Keys N Krates musical career continued to
blossom, as they sold out numerous shows across Canada and US, while touring
with Redbull. Additionally, they had the opportunity to take their show
overseas to Germany, as well as performing alongside Canadian indie /
electro-pop band Metric at several
select performances in Canada.
Recently, the trio released their second mix tape, Almost 39 Minutes, a continuous mix of
classic throwback hits and new releases from artists including, Aaliyah, James
Brown, Michael Jackson and Drake. The mix was embraced by fans across Canada,
with exclaim.ca boasting that it “succeeds both in offering a taste of the
live KNK experience and as something to put a little skip in your step while
moving from point A to B.”
