biographical info

Kensington Prairie is Rebecca Rowan's solo project. Rebecca is the singer/songwriter of Vancouver's indie pop darlings 'Maplewood Lane'. Kensington Prairie's debut full length album "Captured in Still Life" will be released March 2008. The album was recorded, mixed, engineered and produced by Jonathan Anderson at Buena Vista Audio. Noah Mintz (Broken Social Scene, The Dears) mastered the album. Although the album has not been released, KP have already licensed 3 of the songs (disappear from view, a million skies, and photgraphs) to CBC's new televsion series "Heartland".

A brief history: Rebecca (singer/songwriter), Nate, and Joel formed Maplewood Lane in the spring of 1999. Ryan and Alana joined a few years later and Maplewood Lane went on to record 2 full length albums and 2 e.p.'s. Maplewood Lane licensed most of their songs to film and television (Atom Egoyin's Sabah, Degrassi High, Life with Derek, Radio Free Roscoe, The Dark Oracle, etc). Maplewood Lane are still together...currently working on a new album (release date unknown). Joel and Ryan are playing with the amazing band Dawntreader. The world needs to hear Dawntreader! Joel has a solo project as well - he goes under his own name. While the side projects began to mount, Rebecca and Nate decided it was time to begin a solo project. They brought in the genius of Jonathan Anderson and began recording. Along the way they discovered Michelle and fell in love with her harmonies and mandolin. That brings us to now...we can't wait for what comes next!

Hello Frans (Friends and Fans),

I hope you are doing fantastic!  Here is some recent news from the Kensington Prairie crew:

Kensington Prairie moved from B.C. to Ontario in the fall of 2008.  We quickly recruited drummer Jeff Boulton (Before the Flood) and Steve Davis (Before the Flood) to play music with us.  We are very pleased to be working with the Toronto based label Quarry Records.

Lots of shows in the near future...so stay tuned in.

Oh and sorry for the lack of updates on our website - we suck at that.

Take wonderful care,

Nate
