biographical info
As an artist Keith William Miller has always defied the conventional expectations placed on the genre of folk music. Keith has been playing music all his life, becoming a multi-instrumentalist along the way, learning the guitar, bass, drums, and banjo, which over the years has led to him crafting his distinct take on folk music. To say that an artist should be taken at face value does not need to be taken as a negative remark. If an artist is true to him/her or themselves then their image and demeanor should truthfully represent their work. Keith William Miller is an independent folk singer/songwriter from Vancouver, and he both practices and preaches these values. He has been writing and performing throughout the Lower Mainland for the past few years and has always represented himself as an honest and hardworking artist who stands proudly beside his work.
Now accompanied by international cellist Adam McKenzie and upright bassist Brenden Benoit, his music fuses traditional folk music with touches of orchestral overtones and hints of hillbilly bluegrass, all encompassed by tales ranging from cowboys and murder to love songs for nature. Actively performing over the past year, Keith William Miller and his group show no signs of slowing down, with past and upcoming shows at Vancouver’s premier venues including The Railway Club, The Backstage Lounge, Café Montmartre, and Joe’s Apartment on Granville. The group is also actively conducting radio interviews and receiving airplay from various programs on stations such as CiTR, as well as being featured and reviewed on popular music blogs such as VanMusic and Vancouver Music Review.
This is all in anticipation of Keith William Miller’s debut EP, “Poetry For The Glass Half Empty”, set to be released in May of 2012.
