biographical info
Kathleen Yearwood is an experimental songwriter and vocalist with over 30 years of experience
playing and recording
Reg Elder was a member of two of Kathleens' bands and has toured Europe twice. He is one of the
most original bass players in Canada.
The group plays experimental and improvised constructions, often creating a wall of noise and chaos.
They are also capable of subtle beauty and these two polarities are found in conjunction in the pieces.
There is a theatrical aspect to the performances as well.
Performances incorporate noise, vocal multiphonics, improvisation, broken glass, silences, metal
influences, literature and other unexpected devices.
here is a recent review:
but the
disillusion came in the person of Kathleen Yearwood. Canadian singer,
who declares she's able to make people cry, would by her clumsy use of
guitar have made cry only some old-fashioned guitar lovers. To a
premature need to have my acoustic ducts cleaned attributed also her
almost devotional "eteric" vocal. Four hysterics, two variety dancers,
singing mother or singing nun? Anyhow, better than kazachock in Franci
na balanci (= another disreputable bar … translator's note).
