At only 26, Karrnnel Sawitsky is quickly establishing himself as one of the most dynamic and original fiddle players in the Country. As a spirited performer and composer, his music draws from the various styles that he has played - Canadian Old Time, Metis, Ukrainian, Norwegian, Irish, Scottish, Celtic, French Canadian, Cape Breton, Bluegrass, Jazz, Blues, Rock, Country, and Classical.

As a competitive fiddler, Karrnnel has an impressive collection of more than 250 awards from contests throughout Canada thus far in his nearly 22 year career. He is the most decorated competitive fiddler in the province of Saskatchewan's history, accumulating 4 Provincial Grand Championships and 4 Provincial Junior Championships.

Outside the contest circuit, Karrnnel is rapidly becoming known as a gifted composer of original fiddle music that couples tradition and the mainstream. Consistently amazing audiences with his passion and expertise of the music he plays, he is increasingly in demand for solo appearances, recording sessions, and concerts.

Most recently, Karrnnel often shares the stage with a variety of musicians, including country artist Jason Blaine, talented composer and guitarist Ray Bell, country music artist Chris Thompson, and his two sisters along with his father - gifted fiddle champions and a talented accordion player respectively. Karrnnel's performances thrive on an exciting mix of dynamic musicianship and engaging stage presence. Whether he is performing at a Celtic festival or a an intimate house concert, you won't find an unresponsive toe in the audience!!!

Currently, Karrnnel lives in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan and is balancing his music with performance as well as teaching both privately and at several annual fiddle camps throughout Canada, equally sharing his deep of understanding of Canadian fiddle and unique blended musical style.

Karrnnel currently has one group recording to his credit entitled "Sawitsky Family Fiddlers" which was released by Karrnel's family and features traditional Canadian Old Time and Ukrainian fiddle music. He has most reccently released his debut solo recording of original fiddle music in February 2009.
