biographical info
By combining a love for British guitar pop songcraft with a fetish for crunching power chords, Knacker is providing the necessary links between hook-filled '70s arena rock and cutting-edge Indie-rock of the 21st century. Founded by the Marino brothers, Dean (guitars & vocals) and Pete (bass & vocals), Knacker is instantly notable for its ability to evoke a sense of nostalgia, while simultaneously dragging the listener/audience kicking and screaming to a new, unexpected place in rock.
Knacker's first full-length album, Snapshot, released independently in 2002 and produced by Krisjan Leslie (The Weekend, Zuckerbaby), was filled with highly melodic, well-written songs.
With solid college radio support for the album, Snapshot was soon the darling of Music Supervisors, with all of the songs licensed to outlets such as MTV’s Undergrads, Fashion Television, Radio Free Roscoe, and the HBO feature film, Silver Wolf. Snapshot was also nominated for “Best Rock Album” during the 2002 CMW Indie Music Awards.
Knacker recently locked themselves in the studio to record their sophomore album. The result is
picture | show., a robust and radio-friendly set of hooky and boisterous indie rock.
"picture | show. is, above all, a rock 'n' roll record. It rocks, but it has its more introspective moments too. It's definitely a guitar-heavy record and the songwriting is much tighter than Snapshot. confident- tight - crunchy - riff - swagger!"
