Jump the Planet is a Canadian rock band hailing from the foothills of British Columbia's Cascade mountains.
Modern rock band Jump the Planet (JtP) has taken a truly organic approach to their original music. Choosing to reside in BC's backwoods has provided an avenue to create focused, straight-ahead, sun-ripened rock ‘n’ roll. These guys are making a mark, with fans describing them as “…an energetic brand of rock 'n' roll”, and the Similkameen Spotlight calling them a “…band you’ve just got to see”. JtP is a band that does not disappoint.
Jump the Planet released a live three song demo to internet audiences in February 2012 entitled, 'The Broken Finger Demos' -- a somewhat fitting title for the effort in light of a November incident between a guitar player and a filleting knife. (Apparently, it is a tough job playing guitar while missing two finger tips from your fretting hand)! The band will be touring around southern British Columbia, including performances in Penticton, Vernon, the Okanagan Fest of Ale, and the Columbia Valley Music Festival. Aside from having a passion to entertain live, the band's goal is to increase it's fan base, and then head back into the studio to record a second Jump the Planet EP in November 2012.
Cam (vocals/guitar) amicably left the band in May 2012.
After just six months as a three piece, JtP has developed into a dynamic modern rock act. Members of the band: Barry (bass), Jay (vocals/guitar), Kevin (drums/vocals) have melded their varied styles together to develop a sound described by some as Jack White meets Kings of Leon. The group is comfortable playing shows from one to three sets, focusing on original works, but offering up uniquely twisted cover songs at their live shows. The band has been energized and inspired by the support from fans and clients alike.
