Raised in the small town of Vernon, BC, Jodi Pederson is a proud Canadian singer/song writer. Her life's experiences and influences filter the emotion and heartfelt lyrics in her songs. Jodi's music is inspired by artists such as Bob Dylan, Sheryl Crow, The Beatles, Sara McLachlan, Blue Rodeo, Queen and many more. These artists are the roots of Jodi's musicianship. They opened doors for Jodi and helped her to craft her own unique sound and folk pop style.
At the age of eighteen, she was chosen by Bill Henderson (Chilliwack) and Roy Forbes (formerly Bim), for a songwriting workshop with competitive enrolment. Pederson was recognized by Jack Lenz, of Lenz Entertainment at the age of seventeen, who later directed her first album, "Seasons". The album is a portrait of strength and weakness of the human heart, a smooth mixture of the organic and the produced. Jodi Pederson has had the pleasure of working and writing with music producer Asher Lenz, singer/song writer Adam Crossley, (Josh Groban, etc.) and music engineer Michael Jack (Bono, Hilary Duff, Nelly Furtado etc.). Currently her songs "Comfortable", "Spoiled", and "Strong Hearts" have been put in regular rotation on 107.5 KISS FM in Vernon BC. CBC Radio 3 has also added Jodi's song to their play list. Patrick Nicol, manager of Kiss Fm radio, personally contacted Jodi to write a song for the Vernon paralympians. The track is titled, "Strong Hearts". More tracks off of her album, "Pins and Needles", "No Sleep", and "Spoiled" have been featured on episodes of Showcase's television series, "Crash and Burn". Recently Jodi's music has been added to television series, "Men with Brooms" and in the upcoming feature film, "Waiting for Summer". In 2010 "No Sleep" was the winner of the We Are Listening, Singer/Songwriter Competition.
Last holiday season (December 2010), Pederson released her first Christmas single, "Christmas With You" and made #33 on the HOT AC Top 40 Charts (that's across Canada!). The single was picked up by numerous radio stations in every province across the country.
During the 2011 British Columbia Interior Music Awards, (BCIMA) Jodi was nominated in the top 3 for Album of the Year, and Pop/Contemporary Recording of the Year, also in the final round for People's Choice, out of 428 talented competitors.
With the excitement building up towards her second album release, Jodi embarked on her 2011 MUCH LOVE Cross Canada Tour. Jodi and accompanist Joel Pederson, (cousin) performed at various venues all across the country with great success. Compared to Joni Mitchell for her creative song writing, Jodi Pederson sings of personal experiences, filtered by heartfelt emotion and honesty.
