biographical info
Jimmy Wright Jr. toured western Canadian clubs extensively before being snapped up by Edmonton's One Horse Blue to play guitar and sing on their third album "Livin' on the Edge".
Jimmy moved on to Toronto and attended Trebas Institute of Recording Technology. Jimmy's song "Serious Matters" landed on Toronto Q-107's Homegrown Album. Jimmy also recieved a Factor New Talent Award and released the single "Mistaken Identity" nationally.
Jimmy and drummer/songwriter Derek Morgan headed for the west coast and reconfigured into Population who performed regularily and produced an independent video that aired on MuchMusic. A Population song was included on Vancouver's Best Unsigned Talent cd for NewMusicWest.
Jimmy moved back to his roots and started an organic food market with a solar powered juice bar in the heart of Regina.
Jimmy's song "We Share Everything" was chosen best song by Murray McLaughlin and Sylvia Tyson at an advanced songwriting workshop in Saskatoon. That song was included on SaskMusic's Cream of the Crop Circles cd. Jimmy was interviewed and performed on CBC's The Afternoon Addition.
In 2006 Jimmy released his first full length cd Lucky Dog. A conscious effort made with delicate production underscoring some of the heavier themes. Lucky Dog contains one cover song. A funky acoustic version of "People, Let's Stop the War" by Grand Funk Railroad, an early influence. Jimmy's latest release 'Let's Move On' is rock/blues/pop featuring more electric guitar. Let's Move On also has fellow Regina lads Michael Thompson (Serena Ryder, Jason Plumb) on drums, and Irvin Fines (Men Without Shame) on bass guitar.
Jimmy is presently writing songs for a new cd to be released in the spring of 2011.
