biographical info
Jeff Leech & the Pepperbox Choir are from Oshawa, Ontario, Canada. In 2009 they released their debut album My Sidearm to much praise in the local Durham Region community.
After several disappearances and some time in the trenches, they have returned with a sophomore release Pointin’ Fingers - released April 2011. On this new album Leech & the Pepperbox Choir have weathered countless attacks, tragic loss, and brought home harrowing tales of misfortune, human resilience, and the cruelty of armed conflict. An eye-witness account from the front states Mr. Leech has an “ability to get inside characters and present their story... to inhabit a personality and view the world through another's eyes” –
Will McGuirk, Oshawa This Week.
On this tour of duty, Leech and his brigade of mercenary musicians – including vocals from Toronto singer/songwriter Trish Robb - have enriched these songs by blending heavy and warm arrangements with traditional roots influences. Each song on the album conjures a distinct and vivid world of its own and merits a good, hard listen. The first single from this new release is Soldier Boy, a rowdy exploration of youth seduced by the romance of war. Other key tracks include Peace Time in Amsterdam, Too Cold For Walkin’, and the title track which will have you Pointin’ Fingers and singing along with the choir – ya, a real choir! So grab your hat and pistol, raise your fist and join the fight. Hug your mama, kiss your girl, we’re shipping out tonight!
