biographical info
For Janice Hall, songwriting usually begins when she isn't thinking about music. A simple melody is burned into memory. Words and structure follow along once the idea has percolated for awhile. Sometimes songs are finished quickly, but more often than not, they swirl in the back if her mind for long stretches before they spill out onto paper, tape, or are brought to an audience.
Given her shy demeanour on stage, Hall can sometimes catch audiences off guard with her strong vocal delivery and steady guitar playing. She comes across as a quiet sort who doesn't like crowds, and yet feels compelled to occasionally stand before many people and let music pour out of her heart. Performances are few and far between these days while she's busy taking care of two young children, but work continues on new material.
