HEAL to all!!

As you all know , our song Heal  was chosen to be   included in Playlist for the Planet album. I am now happy to announce that this album was launched recently (April 2011) on i-Tunes by the David Suzuki Foundation. Just follow the link  below and enjoy  sampling some  thirty (30) environmental anthems that the David Suzuki Foundation chose to be part of their final album to the environnement. This album contains  the eleven(11) provincial song contest winners including   HEAL from QUÉBEC!!!

The choice of Heal on the Playlist for the Planet album is the result of the  fabulous network  of musical and environnement fans that we were able to create and I can’t thank you enough for your support and participation!!!

I am in the process of writing and composing the songs that will appear on  my next album OUT OF THE BOX and on which Heal will be included . The birth of a song is a magical and unforgettable moment for me. After a lot of hard work and much love, my words and music form into one and are ushered  into the world as  new born songs. I am really anxious to share all of this with you, but there is a time and a place for every thing , !!! In the mean time , I am  working on writing the last three songs of the album and I am collaborating on two of these songs with an author and a singer songwriter (both of them from Québec City).

Once the  song writing is finished ( hopefully  by late summer), I will  team up with my friend  Stéphane Desbiens for the autumn/winter recording of the album at his Studio de la Rive. I will get  in contact with you in the autumn to fill you in on progress  of OUT OF THE BOX and hopefully share some of the  new music with you.

A happy and sunny summer to all !!

 Bio.....

Jack Lavoie grew up  in Quebec City and was raised in an active and  creative , bi-cultural and bilingual family. True to the classic story, he first fell into music with his brother as a teenager when they pooled their resources and shared a single guitar. Jack followed his fingers and his heart into  writing, composing and performing his own songs.

He released his debut album New Warning in 2003, and 2004 saw his song Reason from this album earn him an honorable mention award in the John Lennon Song Writing Contest.

In 2005 Jack went back to the writing block and finished recording his second album. Released in July 2006, La Pura Vida produced two Billboard World Song Contest acclaimed songs in A Fine Summer's Day and The Simple Things. The French version of A Fine Summer’s Day got extensive radio play .

Road trips were part of 2007; Among the highlights were performances on the main stage at Le Festival de la Releve, in Thetford Mines, QC, and at the legendary Black Sheep Inn (Wakefield).

In 2008 Jack unplugged his Fender and dusted off his Larivée and "acousticated" his music. Jack shares the stage with his band, The Partly Warrens (Dan Cooper on bass, guitar and ukulele; Jonbé Shea on djembé and vocals ), and a variety of guest musicians that include Giovanni Arteaga (Florence K) and Stéphane Desbiens (The D Project).

On June 1st, 2009, Jack launched his song for peace Bring Your Boys Home from the John And Yoko Suite at the Queen E. in Montreal 40 years to the day after John and Yoko had recorded their message to the Universe, Give Peace a Chance.
October 2010 saw Jack's song HEAL chosen  to David Suzuki's Playlist for the Planet Songwriting Contest. The Playlist for the Planet Album was released in the spring of 2011on iTunes .
Jack is presently working on his  third album Out of the Box, scheduled for release in the Spring of 2012.

Heal

posted by Jack Lavoie

We drive down beautiful 10 lane highways

Watch forests fall to glossy magazines

Self consume ourselves  like there is no tomorrow

When we should try being more like trees

We need to breath

And we  need to be

A community of people

To recommit and re-create worth

Lose their carbon addiction

And heal the earth

I see we are sailing down muddy rivers

Crossing lines that we don’t seem to understand

Photosynthesis is not an enemy

Nor is it un- Canadian

We need to breath

And we  need  to be

A community of people

To recommit and re-create worth

Lose their carbon addiction

And heal the earth,  heal the earth, heal the earth

This hi tension living can work itself to green

And changing is not an impossible dream

I know what I can I do and the steps that you take

All start when we decide to participate

In the change and for change

Oh we  need... to be,

A community Of people

To recommit and re-create worth

Lose their carbon addiction

And heal the earth, heal the earth

A community of people,

To recommit and re-create worth

Lose their carbon addiction

And heal the earth,  heal the earth, heal the earth
