From So. Ontario, now a long-time Montrealais, John joins many on his second album, Into the Bull's Shoulder. Somewhere in the swirl of reverbed guitars, the wave of the Hammond organ, something swift happens: the songs reach out and back to the solitudes of Charlie Patton, Woody Guthrie, Bob Dylan, Nina Simone, John Cale, and even Bruce Springsteen (!). John appears in front of a subtle and intense live band, and is often found on his own, solo on guitar or piano, trying to haunt the hoot owl.
