I just finished my latest project "Too Hot To Chill", which is released through Interscope Records. I also just completed "The J Wildd Show", which is a 24 minute and 34 seconds hip hop verse. I actually ended up turning "The J Wildd Show" track into a cartoon. "The J Wildd Show" cartoon, is a four part mini series. Check out the new album, "Too Hot To Chill" available on iTunes now!
So let me take you from my beginning of my music time to now. My government name is Rockmen Jermaine Parris , and I was born July 24th 1984 in Halifax , Nova Scotia. I spent most of my childhood years growing up in Mulgrave Park , which is a subsidized housing complex in the cities north end. I grew up like any other average kid in my community , being raised by a single mother working blue collar jobs. As my mother worked cheque to cheque to provide for her three children , my life started heading in a different direction. I was becoming more and more aware of what was going on in my neighbourhood , and none the less I spiraled into a world of negativity fast. That's when I would say I first starting making music , back in the late 90's.I quickly found my flow when I realized the power I held in words , and as I matured so did my music. From the art of freestyle I then started making tapes recorded with one of those mini karaoke machines , which quickly turned to cd's. At first I was just making cd's for my friends, and people in my neighbourhood.I've resided in Nova Scotia , Ontario , British Columbia , doing a few tracks here and there , but I never aimed to make an album just good music.I've done tracks and freestyled with underground artist from Halifax to Vancouver Island , that's coast to coast. In 2006 I recorded my first mixtape which has 22 tracks on it. Like anything that you do for the first time , it was a learning process. It was then I realized how much work there was/is to making a album work , other than just good music. It was around the same time I had a inspirational moment which led me to release Crunch Time. It was me , my cousin , and Jordan Croucher or should I say JRDN (shout out to Jordan I know they see you now) in the car having a little music freestyle session. When some random guy comes up to the car window , saying he could here us on the radio. That's when I decided to put together a project that had no curse words or collaborations. The purpose of Crunch Time was get on the radio , and I managed to get on a few different radio stations. As well I performed three tracks off the album during Music Nova Scotia Week 2007 , so to me the album was a success. The latest project I've been working on is a website I own, for promoting independent musicians. The Musical East Coast is something to check out if your a independent musician, or if you know an independent musician on the east coast looking for promotion.
