irezicle (emma hendrix) is a multimedia artist who became involved in experimental sound around 1997. Originally a member of the 'prog/country' band beauventure (Stephen Lyons, Francois Dyment), and therefore at least partially responsible for such ideas as 1998's Wrong Number (a loaf of toast, a telephone and a lonely lonely man) at Cafe Deux Soleil, or 1999's A Kitchen Set (pre-recorded kitchen orchestra with toy organ, coffee/toast creation and consumption, violin and plate destruction) at (the) sugar refinery.
In 2000, emma began working with Graeme Scott in coin gutter. they began playing with rock bands in bars, clearing rooms and soundmen alike (yes, they all were men). coin gutter released their first album, promo, in the summer of 2000 and emma toured the country in his white k-car wagon, promoting the cd to any radio stations and people he could find.
Coin gutter has now released 12 CD's, including 2003's all your dreams are meaningless (notype) and 2008's pigeonless (featuring artwork by Ek and cameraman), available for download from coingutter.ca. coin gutter has also played MUTEK, opened for the wondrous Pan Sonic and Books on Tape, and toured Canada 3 times.
Emma's other work includes many multimedia installations, theatre, composition for film, video, performance art and dance, radio art, sonic street art, interactive noise music, film, video, sonic photographs etc.
Multimedia installation work includes 2004's Centre for Disease Control, in conjunction with INFEST (International Festival of Artist Run Centres) with the experimental arts collective Disasteroids (26 artists, emergency art, 1 night).
