biographical info
Spearheaded by long-time friends and principle songwriters Clay Jones (guitar) and Mark Satterthwaite (vocals/guitar), HUDDLE is a creative collective of some of Toronto’s finest musicians, including Teddy Wilson (drums) and Dave Lucas (bass).
After collaborating for 6 years on award-winning films and television scores (CBC/MTV/The Movie Network/The Comedy Network), Jones and Satterthwaite started writing pop songs together. With influences ranging from THE NATIONAL to WHITE DENIM to DAVID BOWIE, Jones’ complex, angular, math-rock meshed so well with Mark's melodic pop-sensibilities, they decided to hit the recording studio, assembling a group of close collaborators and music lovers (Wilson and Lucas) on the way.
Inspired by the windswept pines, majestic towering cliffs, clear blue water, and overall calmness of Georgian Bay, Ontario, All These Fires features ten hook-laden and well-crafted songs that will literally have you toe-tapping and singing along in no time. From the incredibly catchy lead single “Islands” driven by a pulsing piano line and Satterthwaite’s soulful vocals, to the track “Sleepwalker” which touches upon his personal struggle with a sleeping disorder, All These Fires is a culmination of an artistic journey that started with a spark.
HUDDLE released their debut album All These Fires digitally on August 30, 2011 through iTunes and Amazon. Recorded at the Lincoln County Social club and Angles Up Studio, All These Fires was produced by Chris Stringer (OHBIJOU, TIMBER TIMBRE) and engineered by Stringer and Josh Korody.
