artist Hot Little Rocket

So this is the deal.... you read it here first or maybe on facebook or the HLR website cause I'm just going to repost this the same way. This is the official word or press release or whatever you want to refer to it as. Yes... Hot Little Rocket will be releasing a new album this summer/fall. We recorded 12 new songs with 2 of our favourite people, Lorrie Matheson and Dave Alcock. The tentative release date will more than likely be our 11th anniversary in September because we took way too long to finalize the details. And yes, the plan is for the band to split up, sell the house, disrupt the kid's lives and move to opposite sides of the island. In reality it really just frees up some evenings so we can move on with other projects that are in the works. Oh yah, another good reason why we are breaking up is because we have officially run out of things to talk about in the van... So this is going to be the way it rolls out.... Aaron will continue on with "Heat-Ray" who have a new record out this summer, Matt will release his solo venture this summer as "extra happy ghost!!!" I will continue playing with "Key to the City" and yes, we also have a new record coming out this summer.... that's right one band tied to 4 new records and all this summer....FYI, Andrew is also in the process of gathering some crazed individuals to rock some roll (name and lineup not released at press time)... so you really want to know why we are breaking up, because breakups mean much more hard feelings, anger and depression....and anger and depression leads to more creativity, and more creativity leads to more records. So more records will be made by Hot Little Rocket... maybe not in this form but in many many other mutations.... and aren't mutants just way cooler... Wolverine kicked some serious ass! To summarize, we are breaking up and we are also releasing a new record... That's it... I said it. Done. It's out there! We will have a few shows coming up to pay back some favours, and also to have some serious fun. We will be at Sledisland this summer and will also be playing an outdoor show for CJSW's Olympic Plaza Concert Series. The last Hot Little Rocket show ever/ CD release party / Mega Merch sell off will be announced soon. We really love you guys!

We have finished recording our 4th full length album with Lorrie Matheson and Dave Alcock at Arch Audio studio and Sundae Sound studio. We wrote, re-wrote, demoed, re-wrote, demoed some more and finally were able to get 12 solid songs down onto magnetic tape using various drum kit configurations, amp manipulations and of course some "borrowed" gear. We are still working out the details on how we will be presenting these songs to you. It will be sooner than later, and will probably be a sought out collectors item before it is even released as we will probably be releasing it in limited quantities with our own limited resources. We will be mostly using white glue, scrap cardboard boxes and scotch tape.... DIY!!!! We also have a few upcoming shows to announce. April 3rd @ Broken City with the Ex-Boyfriends (Can you believe we have never shared the stage with these guys....yah... I know!!!) We will also be warming up the crowd for the most Calgarian of all shows April 17th at the Gateway with the Dudes and Chixdiggit. This show should be sponsored by the City of Calgary, Big Rock, Peters Drive In and Spolumbos! We will see you soon!

We have enjoyed our run for 10 years in the Canadian rock music scene. We have met so many amazing people through our travels and are lucky enough to be one of a very few bands that have been able to stay together as friends and creative partners for a decade along the ol' Trans Canada. We are celebrating this landmark at the Marquee Room in Calgary on September the 13th. We are having a special "secret" band opening the evening and we will also be performing 2 sets one as we exist today, and a set with our original bass player, Mark Macarthur. We are putting this event on to have a great party with our friends and hope you all can make it down.... if not we'll see you somewhere down the road. Happy Birthday!!!

We will be hitting the road to take part in Whistler's Crankworx Festival (I won't be riding since I stubbed my toe... but we will be playing some rocky rolly) On the way we are stopping by Pat's Pub to build up our leg muscles and warm up for the trek up the hill. We hope to see you there or up there.

So, we took a trip to Vancouver last week. It was sunny and warm. We ate well, met up with our past members and enjoyed ourselves thoroughly. We shot a video for our third single, "This Decade" and played a show at The Biltmore Cabaret. All and all a fun filled action packed weekend. We are hosting a show with our friends from Winnipeg, the Details and Papermoon at the Palomino on May 31st. It is going to be a saucy evening. We hope you can join us. We will be heading out to Toronto June 13th to play the NXNE music festival. Rancho Relaxo is where the party will kick off. Bring your sister, your cousin and that visiting exchange student for a good wholesome evening. We are still writing songs for our next album (who knows when that will be recorded, but demos are soon underway) We hope to share the new tracks with you this summer. Photo courtesy of Brenda B. We are gearing up for our new album "How To Lose Everything" recorded by Steve Albini last February to be released June 26th.  We have signed up with the newly formed label/management group fileunder: music.  We will post the new album on this site for all you CBC fans to have a free listen.  We hope you enjoy it.  We will be hitting the road starting June 22nd and travelling across Western Canada for the summer.  We hope to visit the East Coast and all points in between this fall.  Let us know what you think.
