biographical info
Hilary Branch is a singer-songwriter originally from Nanaimo BC. In
2007 she moved to Saint John NB to study at Taylor College, planning to
remain one year and then return to Victoria to study Opera. She stayed
for two more years after that and in May 2009, she married Shawn.
All her life music has been her passion. She began studying classical
voice at the age of 4, and continued to do so until she was 19.
Throughout this time she competed in local music festivals, recorded
multiple choral CDs, and apprenticed as a childrens’ choir conductor.
She also played the alto saxophone in her highschool Jazz Band and took
part in musicals such as Jesus Christ Superstar and Pirates of Penzance.
Since her cross-country move, her musical style has taken shape as a
culmination of the music of her youth. She now describes herself as an
Acoustic Folk artist, which encompasses a lot! Locally, her music has
been featured at Thandi’s, O’Leary’s, and Magnolia.
This spring, she took an art course led by Ed Coleman and discovered she could paint! She is always looking for new ways to release her creativity.
Hilary’s first solo CD, Down the Road Again, was released October 1, 2010.
