Delivered from the mythic north Ontario wilderness, Hawksley arrived on the scene over a decade ago with a fearlessness rooted in an undeniable vocal panache. This Juno Award winning wild card has already cemented his place as an emblem of Canadian culture here and abroad.
Hawksley’s catalogue spans 14 years and 14 records, from his indie groundbreaking For Him and The Girls, to sex filled anthemic rock, electro pop and gut-wrenching ballads on albums: The Delicious Wolves, Lover/Fighter, Treeful of Starling, Between the Beautifuls, Los Manlicious, Meat, Milk, the original one-of-a-kind Christmas album Almost a Full Moon and its reimagining Full Moon Eleven. His live show has taken him on tours across Canada, Europe and Australian, where Hawksley has made devoted fans worldwide.
Beyond his work as a recording artist, Hawksley has produced albums for some of Canada’s favourite artists, including Polaris Short List and Juno Nominated artists such as Hey Rosetta, Sarah Slean, Serena Ryder, Tegan and Sara and Great Big Sea. Hawksley’s unquenchable thirst for collaboration also drives many songwriting partnerships here and abroad. From Oscar-winner Marion Cotillard to icon Jane Birken to French legend Johnny Hallyday.
Hawksley’s latest work takes him to the stage for THE GOD THAT COMES, an original one-man-band cabaret/rock & roll hybrid show. This concept album for the stage tells the story of the Greco-Roman god of wine Bacchus (or Dionysus). His solo performance fuses the chaotic revelry of a rock concert with the intimacy of theatrical storytelling.
