biographical info
Cute yet ferocious, raw yet technical, political yet personal, Honeyrocket are a slew of contradictions. Most people who see them live expect Josie and the Pussycats; instead, they get L7 strangling Black Sabbath with their own patch cords while Henry Rollins hoarsely cheers them on. In just a few years, these four young women have risen to the forefront of their local scene, with a nonstop series of performances in and around Western Canada. Their unique approach won them the coveted opening slot for punk legends Fugazi in July 2001; they have also shared the stage with acts like Closet Monster, 3 Inches of Blood, the Weekend, Breach of Trust, and the Riff Randells. Premier Calgary music magazine Fast Forward touts Honeyrocket as having “solid songwriting and an awesome sound, which is…all guts… Their skills are evident, their chemistry undeniable, their songs super catchy.” Their new four-song demo was recorded by Columbia Records engineer Jonathan Lowry (Corrosion of Conformity).
