Formed in November, 2005, heartwarmongering was
originally intended to be a one-off project bringing together members of Vancouver’s sometimes disparate creative music communities. Current or former members of such acts as crazed circus-punk They Shoot Horses,Don’t They, minimal/noir-folk/sound-collage Dixie’s Death Pool, post-rock Saul Duck, and avant-jazz Tony Wilson Sextet have been brought together by Fond of Tigers guitarist/composer Stephen Lyons to play music that references minimalism, film soundtracks, jazz, and post-rock. The acoustic/electronic instrumentation, as well as the diverse interests of the players, allows for sounds and texures which range fromdiaphanous subtlety to complex, driving rhythmic structures.
