biographical info
Hamiltron was conceived as a means of recovery after a badly timed B and E. The founders had been months in toying with the idea of a band named after their home city, but ultimately, a robbery was the catalyst. The burglar had stolen a host of electronics from the house, but most devastating of all was Steve McKnight’s treasured Barracuda SG. I’ll rephrase; the burglar had separated a musician from his instrument. Something had to be done. A response had to be leveled. We did what anyone in that position would do: we bought as much booze as we could, set up an illegal bar our kitchen, and threw a benefit show in our living room to buy Steve a new guitar. On the bill that night were members of Sailboats Are White, Knights In White Satin, You Silent Feud, and a fledgling, newborn act known as Hamilton. Once the hat was passed around and the final tally made, there was enough cash to buy Steve a brand new axe, fire engine red. Also, it established a precedent for action. Two weeks later, when a friend had a burglary and similarly lost his guitar, we threw a recovery bash for him, too. Hamilton, later altering their name to Hamiltron after an epiphany at a nightclub urinal by drummer Jeremy Kemeny, drove on like a steam powered locomotive. In the ensuing months, Hamiltron--in a convenient circumstance of placement-- recruited their bassist, Eric Paolozzi, from the house next door.
