Glitter Cinnamon is Singer/Songwriter Crystal Porter's alter ego
"I've been singing for as long as I can remember. My grandfather played
in a few bands. Some of the best times we ever had were us listening to
good time oldies on the radio... i would sing the melody of whatever
song was on and he would harmonize with me... that is how i learned to
harmonize... to this day a good harmony really melts me... i love how
notes mingle and meld into something so amazing..."
Crystal's take on monsters and fantasy characters
"I have no real method to how i write. Sometimes the song
writing starts as a poem, sometimes with a guitar riff... Often what I
am writing doesn't make much sense to me at all.. I just go with my
instinct. In the end you just have to iron it all out into something
neat and organized. I think writing about monsters was something that
just came natural. Near the end I start analyzing everything...What
does that mean to me? What does that mean in my world? Then suddenly it
comes to life, it has a story, it has meaning and I'll most likely draw
some interpretation of it. Dark Room was written about a creature that
consumes people with love... there are people like that... that twist
beautiful things until they become horrible ugly monsters. However, the
songs aren't always about monsters though, sometimes... its nothing but
your soul completely bare. Sometimes its pure observation, your words
of wisdom, your cynicism, your bad day. You just never know."
