biographical info
Gerry Ad Roberts is a Canadian singer/songwriter whose song writing reflects the broad perspective of a life lived. He has travelled extensively across Canada, many parts of the world, including the USA, China, Australia, and Europe. His singing has been described as a “vocal performance that listeners are not likely to forget” and he combines that with a mix of cover songs of Canadian singer/songwriters or songs that he himself has written.
Gerry’s interest in song writing began at an early age, writing his first song at age 13. His craft was honed by formal training in music: piano, trumpet, guitar and by working with successful Nashville songwriters, such as Jon Ihms (“She’s in Love with the Boy”, written for Trisha Yearwood) Rick Beresford (who has written songs for George Jones and Don Williams) and Angela Kaset (“Something in Red”, written for Lorrie Morgan). He has written songs that express the unique nature of the Canadian experience, such as “Tall Ships” or “Tim Horton and Jim Dorey” which appear on his latest 15-song CD. He was encouraged to record and publish his own compositions after a chance meeting, and subsequent friendship, with the late singer Lou Rawls, following a charity event in 1996 in Florida.
Gerry Ad Roberts is a passionate entertainer and can light up the stage with a mixture of new material and renditions of fan favourites. He performs almost exclusively at benefit events and charities as a way of ‘giving back’.
