biographical info
In early 2010, Andrew Davis brought a collection of twisted, syrupy pop
songs to friends and former collaborators Dan Busheikin, Mike Searle,
and Rob Canali. The newly formed GROUNDERS have been captivating
audiences with their quirky, high-energy performances, boasting a sonic
distinctiveness that highlights their potential to soon become one of
Toronto’s most exciting indie bands. Contrasting creeping guitar octaves
against confident bass hooks, the group meshes organic instrumentation
with digital sounds, overlaid with Davis’ ghostly vocals. Audiences are
highly responsive to the band’s wild and honest live show, and although
the band members have difficulty drawing comparisons between their music
and other acts, GROUNDERS has been likened to Wolf Parade, Modest
Mouse, and Arcade Fire. A highlight of 2010 for GROUNDERS was their
performance at the POP! Montreal festival, sharing the stage with some
of their favourite acts; Bear in Heaven, Twin Sister, and the Luyas.
