biographical info
Giselle Numba One, all told, is the post-punk post-rap post-aquarian Wiccan hip hop solo side project of Hot Springs diva Giselle Webber. The poly-talented Giselle has more than a few tricks stowed up the sleeves of her velour hoodie and she’s more happy to bust them out in this unruly spinoff.
Her voice has been variously compared to the curlicued lyrical lilts of Björk and the flinty wails of Joan Jett. Of course, the truth is never that simple and for a singer/songwriter of such innately odd sensibility, any comparison can only fall short. She sings about farmers and witches and makes light of crazy girls and hairy Swedes and she does so with exactly the sort of uncompromising appeal that has sealed the trajectories of pop’s feistiest heroines. A G#1 is, if nothing else, bent on keeping eyebrows raised and ears perked.
