The existence of ‘from Chimpan-A to Chimpan-Z’ is a musical fairy tale in itself; started on a whim and mostly as a gag, the original 2003 lineup consisted of Levi on bass, J on guitar and Jordan on drums. After one performance, Tim filled in on bass so that Levi could slide over to second guitar. By mid-2004, better songs were hammered out with only *real* vocals lacking. Elsa, a close friend of everyone in the band, was asked to lend her vocal talents and she readily agreed. With a solidified lineup, the band discovered that they now not only bonded stronger as friends, but were writing creative and passionate songs influenced by the diverse musical tastes within the band. After turning a few heads by placing in the top ranks of a local ‘band wars’, the band took a drastically more serious approach to song writing. Experimenting even more with structure, content and instrumentation allowed for greater musical versatility all the while maintaining integrity for melody and substance. The result? An amalgamation of many styles into one distinct ‘Chimp Rock’ sound. With the addition of extremely energetic and engaging live performances and a growing ‘buzz’ surrounding the band, ‘from Chimpan-A to Chimpan-Z’s goal remains to create incredible music and simply do what they love and live for.
