"My friend used to play records like Mike Ink's 'Studio 1' series. He'd play them upside down on rolls of tape and mix the weirdest combinations of records together. Chinese meditation music mixed with clunky backwards bass artifacts... You could almost lose yourself in this hypnotic, but absurd sound", explains the Vancouver native, Daniel Gardner, the man behind the moniker.
He explains that this sort of thing is the influence behind most of the Frivolous work. Quirky but melodic, humorous but inspiring, intelligent but suitably...frivolous.
