biographical info
Yohan has been playing guitar and composing sad music since the age of 15. All his time was devoted to recording demos after demos on his own, with the help of a cheap analogue 4-track, his acoustic guitar, an old drum set and his friend's bass. The recording were usually taking place in his room in he basement witch was transformed into a home-made studio. It was the beginning of the 90’s… and bands like Sonic Youth, Eric’s trip, Beck and Nirvana were deeply changing and inspiring him.
In 1996, Yohan moved to Quebec City where he studied graphic design and joined a band called Blue Yolk where, as a newly added second guitar, his specialty was to make all sorts of noises that could add more depth to the music. After a year of playing someone else's songs, it was time to start his own band and write his own material. With the help of Pascal Asselin (Below the Sea, Millimetrik) and Marc Racine, Kazumi FX was born. While playing shows in Quebec City and Montreal from time to time, Yohan was also working on another new project called Evil Pupil. A website where he could just go nuts and publish random artwork, eerie flash movies and some demo tracks he recorded at that time with his band.
