biographical info

Canadian native Eric Solomon has lived a storied life. He was raised in the African Congo, but at the age of thirteen was forced to leave the war-persecuted community during an embassy relief effort. While his family stayed behind, Solomon returned to his hometown of Montreal, Quebec and spent his late teen years touring and performing all over Asia and the US as a hired musician. His world travels and experiences have proven crucial in his development as a performer, musician, songwriter and most importantly, as a person.

An incredibly gifted musician and multi-instrumentalist, Solomon taught himself audio engineering in order to be able to record his own material. His solo music draws from a wide range of musical influences and it wasn’t long before Solomon’s musical talent was noticed by executives from a number of American labels. He ultimately signed to Epic/Sony in New York and began recording his debut album for the label. In what has become a familiar story in the record business, there was an executive shift at Epic and he found his album languishing without a release date. Moving to Vancouver, Solomon continued to write and record new music and also began to hone his skills as a producer.

Solomon returned to his musical roots writing electronic synth driven material and recording it himself.  With the completion of his new EP "Antarctica", Solomon has already drawn early comparisons to artists ranging from Calvin Harris through Frankmusik. Self described as using ‘old sounds done new’; his listeners can hear old-school soul in his vocals behind layers of funk, electro and strong pop melodies. "Antarctica" was mixed by Dave “Rave” Ogilvie (Nine Inch Nails), with artwork commissioned by Josh Hassin (Metric, Emily Haines). Canadian and International tour dates are currently being booked for spring and summer 2010.

Be sure to also check out Solomon’s remixes, where he adds his own flavor to great music by some of his favorite contemporary artists. His remix of Passion Pit’s "Moth’s Wings" received unprecedented attention online soon after its release, becoming the most trafficked song on Hype Machine. Word quickly spread to outlets like Arjan Writes and Rolling Stone Online who praised Solomon's creativity.
