Mark your calendars guys because I’m playing my first ever paid gig on Sept 17^th at the Exchange (Regina, SK) at 8pm!! It’s only four songs to open up for Anique Granger, a francophone signer. I’ve been doing open mic, volunteer gigs, workshops and contests all year and I’m finally for the first time getting paid for what I love to do!

I've been pretty inactive lately, but that's only because I've been busy (not with music unfortunetaly) If you're a coffee addict you know the feeling you get when you don't get your coffee fix... well that's how I've been feeling everyday after work. Fluorescent lights drain your brain of all energy.

But I will be back in school soon meaning only part-time dosages of computer screens and fluo lights.
Speaking of: I am re-writing fluo lights, and I've written two other songs. Coming soon, keep your ears peeled!

A bunch of new things going on, first off, I'm working on a new french song, I'll get back to English songs soon enough so bear** with me. Anyways, I just bought a pickup for my accoustic, a usb interface to connect it to my computer and I have a pretty decent mic for recording my voice, so no more super-peaking songs with a guitar part that hurts your ears... at least I hope. If all goes well my next song will be well recorded, as well as Boite en Vitre which I edited... last one was not as good as I thought. So if you ask me whats new I won't say not much.

I tried to go all synth and garageband drums on this song! (La Boite en vitre) I also used my AKG mic for the vocals but using the "share to itunes" button turned my AKG recording into a not so AKG recording. Hope you like!

As some of you may know I was a finalist for the 2009 Gala Fransaskois, which is a provincial competition for french signer-songwriters and song interpreters. I sang two of my own songs 'Reveille-toi' and 'la boite en vitre' (not on band page... yet) and I interpreted 'Je n'irai pas ailleur' by France d'Amour. Unfortunetaly I did not win and will not be attending Chant' Ouest which is the Western Canadian division of the competition (there always next yearr) but I won de Focus-Plus prize which means I put in the most effort and had the most progress during the week of formation (May 6-8). ** Thats me with the prize in the picture**
I got a nice glass trophey I can go show off!
I learned something, I am not yet a professional but I have surpassed my most debilitating fear : Stage Fright (which was unfortunate before because no one could see the true potential in my songs) So stage fright is slowly turning into a marginal fear.

Also my mentors during the week (Phil Fournier, Francis Marchildon and Annette Campagne) have been extremely helpful I never thought I could transform so much in the matter or one week. I was moving on stage, my voice was silky smooth and I was actually able to move and dance... as opposed to my dear in the headlights maneuver.

Anyways Enough talking, catch me at Open Mic nights on Wednesday nights at McNally's practicing for next year.

TSIFATLW (Thank science its friday and the long weekend.... it works, it works)

Basically I forgot about blogging but this isn't twitter and my followers are patient (I hope). Anyways, nerves are starting to kick in, usually this is a sign of lack of liquid courage, but I must replace this convenient form of transportable diminisher of inhibitions, with lemon tea and honey. I am talking about the Gala Fransaskois, I am one of 5 finalists at the Gala and must compete for the top! So come watch me conquer the stage and if I mess up you can just cheer really loud in hope that the judges don't hear anything (cross fingers). No I have the wrong attitude, I will win, i AM the winner, ah thats how I should be preparing myself mentally. Anyways here's a picture of a dead banana to keep you entertained. (P.S. I think it is a cruel joke to put nervous contestants in a hotel attached to 3 bars... just a note) Keep out of trouble! Kidding!! :)

Ryan Birchard also reads my blog! ( I also admit to double checking your last name spelling on facebook) Other than publicly announcing that I have a fanbase (kidding, who else will stroke my ego) I am here to announce that this weekend's recording of my demo has gone very well, the song should be up soon, (also expect a blog explaining that my new song is up... that's just who I am, you can't change it) Side Note To all: Lily Allen is awesome! Don't be fooled by the media's comparison of her to Katy Perry, she is far from that! Anyways, all this energy wasted on this blog should have been spent on my essay. Until later! ( I should come up with a cooler way of saying goodbye) P.S. I love puppies and I'm tired!

I'm pretty excited to say that I will be recording my first ever professional demo this weekend!! Hopefully it's pretty good. Oh and things are continuing to look up, I played on the Radio on March 14th for a Radio-Thon for Radio Canada (or French CBC). If you guys tuned in awesome, if not hopefully i can figure out computers and put it on the website! (Cross fingers) On an other note, I'm gonna be playing live on May 8th- Check upcoming gigs!!

Things are looking up, I finally went to open mic on the 11th of Feb (guess I went like I posted) then the weekend that followed I went to a workshop that taught me how to act on stage when I sing. My nerves are not made of steel but I'm slowly coating them with gold...haha. 24 karat... I killed it anyways it was already killed. Anyways point of this blog is I'm slowly moving up the pyramid.

So I haven't figured out how to add an image yet, probably because I have a Mac, anyways this is my first blog and I'm pretty sure no one is ever going to read it.... k well I'm not gonna waste my time writing something elaborate since I'm basically the only reader, just thought it would be nice to have a "First Blog"
