biographical info
Founded in 2002, Elevatorhead consists of four professional jazz musicians based in Vancouver. Brought together by a common interest in incorporating real-time jazz improvisations with the sounds and styles of electronic music, the members of Elevatorhead create electro-acoustic music that spans genres and eras. Experimental but not inaccessible, Elevatorhead's music draws from down tempo, ambient, musique actuelle, and electric jazz, often simultaneously. All four musicians utilize electronics in different ways to contribute to their ensemble sound, including electronic processing of acoustic instruments, live sampling, analog synthesis, laptops and vintage computers.
