The music originally was created with synths and sequencers, but DJing tracks live was seen as creatively limiting. So the band was created to perform dance music that reacted to itself, featured some of Canada's upcoming professional players, and had plenty of improvisation. The song structure is open enough to extend or shorten songs, change feel tempo or just about do anything live, on-stage.
