biographical info
Dust Adam Dust, not biased to any one form of music, draws from 60s psychedelia and jangle, math rock, shoegaze, and old country accompanied by striking male/female vocal harmonies. Formed in 2008, its’ members include: Jason Hovland (National Monument, The Spiral Spectacular), Alex Janusz (National Monument, The Dead Letters), Steve Pennicook (Doctor Operator, Feed the Birds) and Anna Hovland.
The overall feeling taken from their shows and music is one of “something happening”, not just in the present but the past and future as well.
The music picks lightly from a number of eras and genres. The songs have tones and hooks which hope to inspire the audience to a higher plane and present the opportunity to gain a new and different perspective.
From what people find interesting or engaging, be it from the past or present, the group operates on the idea that: “if we cull too much from one musical well, eventually we will be offering dirt and saying it’s fresh water”.
Dust Adam Dust is an exploration of expression in music and an attempt to create something that has yet to be made. This is accomplished by the great energy brought to live shows and creating a musical landscape of perceived utopias and dystopias which the audience is invited to enjoy.
What begins as a broad saga-like, musical story is realized to be a concentrated potent pill for thrill. And it’s fun...yeah, don’t forget, it’s fun.
