Don Kerr is a Toronto-based musician, songwriter, producer, engineer. Don sings and plays drums, cello, and tenor guitar. He has played with Ron Sexsmith since 1987 and was a member of Rheostatics from 1995 until 2001.
Don has a recording studio in his home called The Rooster where he works primarily as a music producer. He has also co-owned The Gas Station Recording Studio on Toronto Island since 1991.
In 1999 he created a children's book and cd "The Sniffing Princess", which he wrote, illustrated, recorded and published himself.
Don has appeared on CBC Radio's Vinyl Cafe with Stuart McLean both as a solo artist and as a member of The Kelele Brothers (a Ron Sexsmith Band side-project). The Kelele Brothers have 2 cds available... "Escape From Bover County" and "Has-Beens And Wives".
Don produced Sexsmith & Kerr's cd Destination Unknown which was nominated for a Juno Award in 2005 (roots and traditional album of the year).
Don plays in a band called The Scribbled Out Man, who have released 2 cds through Zunior.com
Don Kerr has invented and built many musical instruments; the Salad Bowl Banjo, the Canadian Talking Drum, The Hydrophone (a 2 octave tuned percussion instrument) and he modified an Electric Cello.
Don wrote and performed the soundtrack to the documentary film, Seven Painters Seven Places, made by Andy Keen in 1999.
Don's most exciting current project is his one year old son, Dove.
