Digits is Alt Altman, a melancholy minimalist synthpop/R&B artist from Toronto, currently living in Berlin after living in London for six months. In a month, Digits went from being almost unknown to becoming a critical darling among newspaper critics, online magazines and influential blogs. In April 2012, he released a 12-song mixtape of all-original songs called Death and Desire. It featured a remix by minimalist R&B pop artist Nite Jewel (Secretly Canadian). The release instantly found an audience among webzines, with Prefix, Clash Magazine, Exclaim, and Dummy all posting the mixtape in its entirety on their sites, with glowing reviews. Tastemaking underground blogs also loved it, with 20jazzfunkgreats, I Guess I'm Floating, Largehearted Boy, Abeano, and We All Want Something to Shout being the most prominent supporters. Features in The Guardian, the Toronto Star, and The Line of Best Fit followed.
Performing using two synthesizers, a laptop, and a looping pedal to reproduce his songs live, Digits has opened for YACHT, Class Actress, Au Palais, Mmoths and Dan Black. He will be performing at European festivals throughout the summer, including Dockville (headliners Hot Chip and James Blake). Sexy, soft-voiced melodies that stick in your head. Introspective dance music. No-rules pop. Digits also plays super-slow electronic R&B in Bad Passion and writes for the Canadian electronic music blog Silent Shout.

"An exploration of all things sullen and self-loathing from the fringes of the dancefloor...This kid's about to blow up." - Ben Rayner, Toronto Star
"A true hidden gem, one that won't remain hidden for long." - Exclaim
"Dark, downtrodden retro-synth-pop…4/5 Ns" - Now Magazine
"Dark and minimalist while also shimmering and sensual." - The Grid
"Everyone with a penchant for electronic R&B/dance made for dimly lit rooms should immediately be listening to Digits." - Prefix
