Dead Language
Four friends combining various musical backgrounds have joined forces to offer a unique contribution to the St. John's soundscape. It is in the subtle nuances of sound where poetry, melody, rhythm and rhyme intersect to reflect the individual characters of each musician. Jonathan Bungay's mysteriously jazzy mandolin, Katie Baggs' haunting violin and voice, and Benjamin Rigby's earthy banjo are layered upon the intricacies of Matthew Hornell's chordal and rhythmic structures. Throughout a performance that joins folk, bluegrass and roots music dead language will make you want to dance, sing and carry on, all with a tear in your eye.
