biographical info

Born in Galt, Ontario in 1944;  rode tricycle across city at age four;  delivered newspapers and set up   pins in a bowling alley;  hitchhiked to Panama and through forty- four of the United States, across Canada many times , age 18 to 19;  worked as machine operator in a textile mill; studied social sciences at McMaster University in Hamilton, one year; loaded trucks for the CPR; played bass for The Stormy Clovers 1965 to 1968 (first band to play Leonard Cohen songs); survived psychedelic era; created music for award- winning Canada Film Board animated film by Ryan Larkin called 'Walking'; caught chickens on the night shift in Quebec; pumped gas; painted houses; installed aluminum and vinyl siding; drove a three ton delivery truck; played country music in bars and prisons; studied electronics and fixed televisions for twenty years; taught a course in electricity for maintenance mechanics in a community college; worked briefly as a supply teacher in the prison system; as a self- employed repair guy I fixed TVs, stereos, tape decks, medical equipment, radionics instruments, and computer monitors; always fixed my own car, still do; divorced, rambled, and fell upon hard times
hitchhiked to the west coast, age 50; worked as a maintenance man in a children's camp in northern Ontario, ploughing snow, removing garbage, testing and chlorinating drinking water, fixing doors, windows, floors, plumbing, roofing and wiring; staged four concerts with my daughter dancer/choreographer Nicole Fougere, among them 'The Letter I Didn't Send' in Haliburton, Ontario and 'Half A Harmony' in Brussels, Belgium; went back to Panama at age 60, riding chicken buses
spent some winters in Guatemala; created the Cd 'Somewhere In The Milky Way' with songs written over a forty year period; wrote a book, The Hobostarship Book, with travel stories from 1963 to the present and the lyrics to forty-two songs.
