With a focus on repetitive and moody songs, the donkey engine has blended minimalist acoustic numbers and post-punk math rock in it's nine year history. a slow but steady recorded output has charted well within canada's college and community radio during this period, and the present trio configuration of the band continues to pop up and play shows in the vancouver area - often appearing as the more prog rock inspired "the approach".
